The higher apprenticeship in leadership and management is a work-based qualification, tailored to your needs and those of the business you work in. This is a one year course, designed for current leaders and managers.
Suitable for all business sectors, this higher apprenticeship enables you the develop your leadership capability, build on your personal and professional skills and create business impact. As the qualification is awarded by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), you'll be working towards Chartered Manager status; the highest status that can be achieved in the management profession.
Study style and course content
Throughout the programme you'll be exploring essential leadership and management themes including:
- building team and individual performance
- contributing to the strategic plan
- developing and managing a product
- managing business risk
- developing effective stakeholder relationships
Every 6 weeks you'll attend classroom-based sessions at the University of Gloucestershire, learning with your peer group, led by experienced leadership and management professionals. In the workplace you'll be applying and reflecting on what you've learned, delivering a bespoke project led by your business need, and topping up your understanding and building your competency through the CMI's online portal, Management Direct.

We currently have access to match funding for this qualification, meaning employers pay just 50% of the fee.
Further study options
After completing the higher apprenticeship in leadership and management you may choose to pursue the level 6 certificate in management studies, the level 7 diploma in management studies and level 7 MBA programme.
You must be able to demonstrate an ability equivalent to or exceeding level 2 in English and Mathematics, and have significant experience of working at a middle management level. Typically applicant have achieved certificates or diplomas, GCSEs or A levels.
