If you are coming to study in Gloucestershire here is a guide to get you started.

1.     Where are you going live?

There are many options to take when choosing where to live, but first it's best to choose somewhere that is close to the campus you shall be studying on so it easier to get to in the mornings. The university provides a long list of halls of residence which can be applied for. There are many different halls on/near to each campus at different prices and sizes. There are also affordable student houses that you can rent from in the surrounding area.

2.     When is Fresher's Week?

Fresher's Week is what all students talk about and is the most sought out event in the student calendar. The University of Gloucestershire have a fresher’s fortnight which is longer and better and full of all the goodness but twice more. It starts from Saturday 17 September and runs until 1 October. It is packed with events from BBQ, karaoke nights, themed nights out and ends with a massive closing party at the legendary Cheltenham Racecourse.

3.     What to take?

First, it is important to make a list of all the things you need so you don’t forget anything and on that list there should be:

  • important documents
  • electricals
  • bathroom items/ toiletries
  • kitchenware
  • products to make your room seem more cosy
  • clothing – including formalwear for possible interviews
  • food
  • very importantly… doorstops to keep your door open to make friends easier.
