BBC Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley is kicking off the 'around town' programme of free performances as part of this year's Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

During the festival, which runs from Wednesday, April 27 to May 2, there will be more than 80 free performances in pubs, clubs and simply in the streets.

Around town gets under way on Wednesday, April 27 with Jo Whiley hosting a BBC Music Introducing showcase of the best jazz bands from across the country, which will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 2.

Around town aims to build on the success of the popular Fringe Festival which in previous years has taken place the weekend before the Jazz Festival.
