Green society debate

Whether you want to do something academic, creative, active or relaxing, there is a society to suit you!

Enjoy exploring fun activities and subjects

Join like-minded people exploring fun activities and subjects. It might be an activity you’ve done for years, or maybe you feel like trying something new. Societies are free and open to everyone so you can pop along whenever you like.

Get involved in anything you like, from Dumbledore’s Army, snow club, ukulele and Bee Project, to vegan, films, unplugged, Comedy, paintballing and Afro-Caribbean. Or, you could join something subject-related like the creative writing, history or biology societies.

Develop new skills and experiences for your CV

Alongside having fun, you will develop all sorts of transferable skills like communication and leadership. You will also develop skills and knowledge specific to your society subject. You never know when you might need these skills and the experiences will give you plenty of things to talk about at graduate job interviews.

Start your own society

If you have an idea for something you’d like to do, you can start your own society with full support from the SU team members. New ideas are always welcome!

Students' Union (SU)

Run by students, for students, the SU aims to improve university experiences and make student life exceptionally fun! As a university student, you will automatically become a member. Social highlights include Freshers' Week, the summer ball, and student media (Tone Radio and Space newspaper). You can also get paid or voluntary work, gaining new skills and strengthening your CV. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in community work and projects so you can give something back.
