The University of Gloucestershire has approximately 1,380 rooms in halls of residence in Cheltenham and Gloucester.

Equipped with:

  • bed, wardrobe, drawers, chair, desk and bookcase
  • kitchen is equipped with fridge, freezer, microwave, cooker, toaster, kettle and cupboards
  • laundry facilities are available on-site
  • regular bus services run between campuses and residences

Cost of living in halls

Weekly rent ranges from £96 - £180 (based on 2015-16 academic year). The rent includes all utility bills, internet costs, contents insurance and cleaning of kitchens once a week. Contracts are for a fixed term of 40 weeks.

University managed housing


University managed housing is an accommodation option exclusive to first year students similar to Halls of Residence but within a house. These properties are leased from local private landlords and managed by the University and your contract will be directly with us. Our Housing Support Team will be on hand to provide support whist in University Managed Housing. Only first year students are allocated into University Managed Housing and we always try and allocate you with other students studying similar courses and from your campus of study.

Vittoria Walk, Cheltenham

Vittoria Walk is a halls of residence based in a quiet location very close to the Cheltenham town centre. These halls consist of 29 rooms with a mix of standard and large rooms. All rooms are fully furnished and students will have access to a large lounge and kitchen area. Vittoria Walk is based on the YMCA complex where you will also have access to squash courts along with fitness classes. This property is just a few minutes’ walk from numerous shops, social activities and transport links.

Devon Place, Cheltenham

Devon Place is located in Cheltenham and provides modern comfortable accommodation for today’s student. The accommodation features en-suite study bedrooms in groups of 6, with shared use of a kitchen/ dining space and some studios. This is a secure property, with access provided via a card entry system.

The kitchens are fully fitted, including modern appliances and comfortable furniture. There is a communal conservatory at the rear of property for the use of all tenants. Inside the property is a TV, table tennis table and football table along with sofa seating.

Discovery Court, Gloucester


Discovery Court is a recently refurbished property located in Gloucester close to the Historic Quays. These Halls of Residence consist of a number of 2 to 4 bed flats and studios. Discovery Court is fully furnished featuring study bedrooms, lounge/dining /kitchen areas with fully fitted appliances. This property is just a few minutes’ walk to the Heart of the City Centre, close to numerous shops, social activities and transport links.

Residential support

The residential support team is responsible for pastoral support to residential students. This team consists of residential support advisers who are full-time staff and residential assistants who are returning students recruited by the accommodation department.

The residential support team is on hand to assist you with a variety of issues that arise while living in residence, including welfare and maintenance issues. The halls are also supported by the security, cleaning and maintenance teams who help ensure the smooth running of halls.
