The events you go to

Celebrate your hard work with big events throughout the year.

Explore everything the university has to offer at Freshers' Week. This includes BBQs, fancy dress parties and the Freshers' Ball. The Freshers' Fayre is where you can sign up to clubs and societies - and get lots of freebies.

One of the biggest events in your calendar will be the Summer Ball. Performers have included Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw and Greg James, Example, and Professor Green joined us with a surprise visit from Lily Allen. The night is packed with dodgems, a ferris wheel and a silent disco.

Don't forget local music festivals supported by the University of Gloucestershire too, such as 2000Trees and Wychwood. With over 45 festivals every year, Gloucestershire is alive with an eclectic mix of events.

The societies you join

With almost 50 to choose from, meet people with shared interests, or try something new.

Get involved in anything you like including snow club, ukulele, the Bee Project, film, comedy, creative writing, paintballing, Afro-Caribbean and Dumbledore's Army. You can even start up your own.

Are you an aspiring DJ? Join our student radio station Tone. As well as broadcasting throughout the day from Park Campus, Tone Radio is involved in broadcasts from outside the studio at events like Wychwood and 2000Trees.

We have many more including RAG (Raising and Giving), which organises lots of fun, fundraising activities.

The sports that you play

From rugby to rowing, there's a sport for you.

A big part of many of our students' lives is playing sports. Whether you're new to what we offer, or a sporting superstar, UNIversal Sport offers everyone the opportunity to get active. You will enjoy a huge range of sporting, recreational, exercise and fitness activities - with no commitment and lots of fun.

If you're passionate about competing, you could join one of our nationally successful teams. This includes the only university professional rugby team - the All Golds. We have over 35 sports clubs with more being created every year, and the university has enjoyed 150 years of sporting achievements, with students producing Olympic and Commonwealth success. Join the legacy.

The work you do

Money can sometimes be tight but there are lots of opportunities to work part-time alongside your studies.

Whatever your budget, our SU Jobshop offers lots of part-time jobs which will fit around your studies. As well as helping to stretch that student loan, it can add real value to your CV - our students gain experience at Gloucestershire's exciting events including Cheltenham's Gold Cup.

We employ many of our students as student ambassadors too - a great way to earn some money with flexible working hours. Events Management student Emma Vinyard says, "I truly love my course and wanted to pass my passion on to other potential students. Being able to proudly represent your university whilst having fun and connecting with potential students is the best thing about being an Ambassador."

The union you join

Your Students' Union (SU) is the hub for student life, organising all the events, clubs and societies you'll want to get involved with.

Studying with us means you're automatically a member of the SU. Independent of, but working closely with, the University of Gloucestershire, the Students' Union is a charity that represents all its members and can speak on your behalf. From volunteering opportunities and societies to bars and social spaces, there's a lot to get involved with.
