Develop specialist business management skills for application in a large global organisation or SME

A one year course, designed for practising managers or those aspiring to a management career, the CMS is an introductory, skill-based management qualification. Suitable for all business sectors, it introduces the main functional areas of management: Introduction to Leadership Practice; Management in Context; Introduction to Marketing; and an Introduction to Finance and Information.

You will be encouraged to reflect on your organisation and then apply your learning back in the workplace.

You can study the CMS as an individual qualification, and when you achieve the CMS, you may choose to pursue the Diploma in Management Studies, which feeds into the MBA programme.

From 2018, the University of Gloucestershire Business School will move to a brand-new, state-of-the-art home at our Oxstalls campus in Gloucester. The £16 million development will be home to our Business, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Law and Accounting and Finance courses. Find out more about the new Business School and other developments with our virtual fly-through video and see where you could be taking your next steps towards a career in business.

Apply your learning in your workplaces

The CMS is designed to enable you to transfer current theories of management to your work place. Through assessment of your work, by written essay, group presentation, or a combination, we give you the practical experience to reflect on and so improve your performance in the workplace.

Learning with a peer group

The CMS attracts students aspiring to be a manager or gaining their first formal management qualification, so you will learn with a peer group of like-minded people. In addition to tutor support, peer group support will help you through the qualification.
