The University of Gloucestershire’s former campus at Pittville in Cheltenham is about to enter an exciting new era, so what better way to create a lasting legacy, than for a sculpture to be originated and delivered by one of our inspiring and creative alumni.
Thousands of gifted artists have honed their exceptional talents at the Pittville campus and it is now being transformed into a student village.
The £38 million development will provide 577 new en-suite student rooms, 214 refurbished existing rooms, a small shop, refectory, bar, students’ gym and multi-use games area, all set in beautifully landscaped grounds on the site.
In celebration of this latest development, we are launching a Pittville sculpture competition, open to all alumni. We are looking for a permanent installation which will be situated outside the reception area, and should reflect the university and its student-friendly environment.
There will be £20,000 funding, to include your creative planning, labour, materials and installation, which will be released in staged payments.
Our chosen theme is “History of the School of Art & Design, Pittville, Cheltenham”. Entry is free and applications must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight Thursday 1 December 2016.
The winning artist will be notified during January 2017 and the sculpture will need to be completed by 15 November 2017 and installed by 15 December 2017 ready for a grand official opening event.
We look forward to receiving your entries - very best of luck!
