Apprentice support

Looking after students well is a real strength at the University of Gloucestershire but don't take our word for it.

In the Times Higher Education Student Experience survey 2017, students ranked us highly for “good personal relationships with teaching staff" (equal 4th out of 122 universities in the UK), “personal requirements catered for" (equal 17th), and “high quality staff/lectures" (equal 21st).

All apprentices have a personal tutor and module tutors providing advice and guidance for them throughout as well as our Student Helpzone support staff.

As their employer, you will be able to access our dedicated apprenticeship support team, meaning that you are able to get the best out of your staff and the apprenticeship. A win, win.

Funding sources

There is good news for all sizes of employers. Larger employers will already have a pot of funding through the Apprenticeship Levy introduced in April 2017, which if not used within 24 months will be lost to the employer. For SMEs and employers with a payroll under £3m there is funding support available. See below for more.

Fewer than 50 employees where the apprentice is 16-18 years oldNo cost to employer – government funded. Incentive payment of £1,000 for taking on an under 19 year old
Non-Levy paying employers – payroll is less than £3m

Government funds 90%

Incentive payment of £1,000 for taking on an under 19 year old
